MicroStepping Drives

High performance microstepping drive and power supply with high torque stepper motors.

With the original SureStep drive you just set a few DIP switches, hook-up a motor and connect to a PLC (or other controller) – it couldn’t be easier, and it’s a great fit for many simple applications. However, some customers asked for more functionality, and higher current capability. So, we've introduced two new Advanced Programmable SureStep stepper drives. With software-selectable resolution up to 51,200 steps per revolution for smoother, more accurate motion and power capability up to 10 A/phase, these stepper drives take SureStep to the next level.

Pulses (or "step" and "direction" signals) from the DirectLOGIC family of PLCs or other indexers and motion controllers are "translated" by the microstepping drive into precise movement of the stepping motor shaft.
The SureStep stepping motors use 2-phase technology with 200 full steps per revolution or 1.8° per full step. Older type stepping motor drives, which operate stepping motors in full step mode, can result in stalling or lost motion due to potential problems with low speed mechanical vibration (usually between 100 to 200 RPM).
To minimize this vibration problem, the SureStep microstepping drive uses advanced microstepping technology with selectable step sizes of 400 steps per revolution (÷ 2), 1,000 steps per revolution (÷ 5), 2,000 steps per revolution (÷ 10), and 10,000 steps per revolution (÷ 50).
A SureStep power supply is available which can operate at least two complete SureStep stepping systems and includes an auxiliary +5 VDC supply to facilitate DirectLOGIC PLCs and stepping driver interfaces.

Requires a 24-48 VDC 17 supply and has optically isolated digital inputs for step, direction, and enable. Free setup software (CD included) or download. Software selectable microstep modes (200 to 512k steps/rev), software selectable idle current cutback, capable of running step/direction, CW/CCW, A/B Quad, analog input (velocity mode), internal indexing and serial command control (via RS-232 communication). Advanced features include anti-resonance damping, torque ripple smoothing, command signal filtering, self-test mode and circuit protection (overvoltage, undervoltage, overtemp, motor/wiring short circuit detection).

SureStep™ Pro Configuration Software - For Advanced Stepper Drives

Used for easy configuration and setup of the stepper drive, including drive, motion control mode, I/O, stepper motor. The SureStep Pro configuration software on CD and the STP-232RJ11-CBL programming cable are included with each advanced stepper drive (STP-DRV-4850 & STP-DRV-80100). Software is NOT required for the standard drive (STP-DRV-4035). SureStep Pro is also available as a Free Download
